With 9 players unavailable in 1st Grade and 5 having already played a full game, it was always going to be a big ask against the competition leaders; and if that wasn’t enough, injuries to 5 of our fresh players saw the Tigers reduced to 17 for much of the second half.
Still to their credit, the boys never gave up and whilst well beaten, hopefully we can re-group during the week and see if we can cause an upset against Figtree in the 1st Semi-final on the weekend.
In the other Premier Division Game, our girls showed real character, coming back from 19 points down at the first break to win 32 to 19 in a strong performance and by so doing, secure second spot on the ladder and the all-important double chance.
As for Reserve Grade, unfortunately we weren’t able to finish the season with a win, but still managed to walk off the field with our heads held high. Not easy when you can’t settle on a regular line up and are constantly making changes, but at least we fielded a team each week and were generally competitive for most of the year.
Big thanks to BT & Glenn for steering the boys around the park each week and to those guys that filled in when we short. Also thanks Simone, Emily, Belinda & Jade for strapping, James Phillips for running water & messages most games, along with anyone else that helped out during the year.
