Club News

Last Saturday saw the Men’s team bow out of the Premiership race when they were comfortably defeated by Figtree whilst the Women kept the Club’s dream alive with a thrilling 2 point win over the Bulldog’s and a place in this year’s Grand Final.

Well done girls still a lot of work to do, but I’m sure Geoff will do everything in his power to make sure you are well prepared for what has been a very tight and closely contested competition this year.

Unfortunately the boys weren’t quite up to the task, a situation made worse by a number of injures in the final round, but as they have done all year, they never gave and the scoreboard certainly didn’t reflect the fierceness of the contest.

A big thanks to Matt Barnes for all his time and effort this year and to the girls Simone, Emily & Belinda for their contribution, along with all those people that helped out along the way.

The annual vote count and league Presentation Night on Sunday proved to be a huge night for the Club with Sophie Phillips picking up her second ‘Maddie Collier’ Medal, with Bridget Kellett 1 vote behind in second place, whilst in the Men’s Division, Jack Boxsell made a late surge to finish runner-up in the Tunbridge Medal.

Other awards included Siwa Harvey –Aziz who took out the inaugural ‘Darren Williams Rising Star Award’ for 2019, Geoff Gibbs – AFL South Coast Senior Coach of the Year and Graham Duke as a nominee for Volunteer of the Year.

Then last but not least, we saw Sophie, Bridget, Katie Sargent & Jessica Liddiard get selected in the Women’s Team of the Year, Emma Dowse receive the Medal for BOG in the REP carnival and Jack Boxsell named in the Men’s Team of the Year for the third year running.

Congratulations guys, what a fantastic effort.
