Club News

Last weekend saw the Bomaderry Tiger’s conclude what has been an extremely tough and trying year especially given the uncertainty surrounding the start of the season, the move from Artie Smith to the Showground and all the COVID restrictions in place.

Still as always, we got the job done and whilst the boys had to wait until the last round to record a win, the girls were more than competitive finishing second only to fall at the final hurdle.

Most teams commented on how hard the boys were and praised our competitiveness. Just lacked the depth and fitness to run out most games. Hopefully we can pick up a few more players and with an un-interrupted pre-season, we can turn things around.

The girls are looking at the prospect of fielding an extra side next year, so if your keen or have friends that might like to have a run, please let them know.

Moving forward, we have the Club’s AGM at 6pm on Tuesday the 10th of November in the Artie Smith Clubhouse, plus we currently taking Expressions of Interest for the respective Coaching positions. All interested applicants should contact Glenn on 0404523658 or send an email to bomaderrytigers@gmail.com. Nominations are listed to close on the 31st of October.

Before I list all of this year’s Trophies, I’d just like to acknowledge and thank all our Sponsor’s and some of the people behind the scenes that helped get things off the ground in 2020.

Firstly our Coaching Staff (Matt Barnes, Geoff Gibbs, Rhys Arnold, Matt Farrow & Darren Murray) Team Managers (Ros Phillips & Glenn Keys) Strappers (Belinda Holt, Simone Gibbs & Emily Reichler) COVID Safety Officers (Belinda Holt & Glenn Keys) Canteen Helpers (Tony McCann, Kayleigh Anderson Patmore, Cameron Boxsell & Tracy Duke) Runners (Jack Batson & Col Lawrence) and the crew that set up, packed up and ran the show every home game (Glenn Keys, Graham Duke, Gary Farrow, Les Gernyi & Tony McCann). If I left anyone out, my apologies.

Secondly and just as importantly, I would like to thank all our Sponsors, because without their support especially in such a tough year where fund raising opportunities were almost non-existent, we wouldn’t have been able to look after the players or keep the fees as low as we did. So once again a huge thanks to McDonald’s Family Restaurant, Amazing Dental, South Coast Security, Aqua Services Pool & Spa, Hanlon Windows, Dunn & Williams Electrical & Air Conditioning, Bomaderry Bowling Club, Tuscany Wood-Fired Restaurant, Scruple’s Hair & Beauty, Mamma’s Italian Kitchen, Kel Campbell Caltex, the North Nowra Tavern & Crofty’s Auto & Tyres

Lastly, I’d just like to congratulate & acknowledge this year’s Clubman of the Year – Graham Duke. In what has been an extremely tough year for everyone, Dukesy has managed to lead the Club through these difficult times and attend to all the added responsibilities created by COVID-19 without losing focus or his sense of humour. Given all the pressure he has been under both at work and in his personal life, he was an obvious choice and deserves all the credit that comes his way. Well done mate.
