Club News

Last Saturday night, the McDonald’s Family Restaurant / Amazing Dental sponsored Tigers officially wrapped up 2017 when they held their annual Presentation Night in front of a large crowd at the Bridge Tavern. This marks the end of another year for the Bomaderry Australian Football Club, and whilst we didn’t do as well as we would have liked, it was still a very successful year in more ways than one.

Whilst neither team made the finals, we certainly showed at times that we are capable of pushing the better teams. We just need to sustain the pressure for longer and work harder on the track. We also need to start recruiting now, and whilst we were able to field 2 teams each week, we need to increase our numbers and improve our deptht so that we can cover for injuries and unforeseen circumstances.

Off the field, the Club is in very good shape financially, our Junior’s are very well managed and performing admirably and with the introduction of a Womens competition in 2018 and the redevelopment of Artie Smith on the horizon, there is certainly a lot to look forward to.

Before I announce this years trophy winners’, I would like to acknowledge and congratulate our committee and coaching staff on a job well done. This year the Club was again capably led by Tony McCann, with marvellous support from Graham Duke, Julieanne Hickmott, Gary Farrow, Les Gernyi, Glenn Keys & Dave Morrison. Others worthy of a special mention include Tracy Duke, Sally Boxsell & Theresa Havlin, plus I’m sure the boys would all join me in thanking Johnny Ulrick, James Batson, Ethan Gration & Jack Carter for running water and helping out each week.

It would also be remiss of me if I didn’t take this opportunity to again thank all our Sponsors for their generosity and support throughout the year. They being: – McDonald’s Family Restaurant, Amazing Dental, the Bridge Tavern, Dunn & Williams Electrical & Air-Conditioning, Big Dog Landscape & Excavating, Baker’s Delight – Nowra Mall, Scruple’s Hair & Beauty, Bomaderry Bowling Club, St George Bank, Kel Campbell Caltex, Tuscany Wood Fired Restaurant, Mamma’s Italian Kitchen, Basham’s Physiotherapy, Manildra, Deli on Kinghorne, Integrity Real Estate, Aqua Service – Pool & Spa, Crofty’s Tyre & Auto and Hanlon Windows. If I happen to have left anyone out, I sincerely apologise. Without your support, we would find it extremely hard to meet our financial commitments; so once again, thank you, and hopefully we can look forward to further association in 2018 and beyond.

AGM
That concludes the bulk of the activities for 2017, however, we still need to organise a working bee and conduct the Club’s Annual General Meeting (Wednesday 8th of November ) Whilst the committee has done a great job, there is always room for new faces and fresh ideas, so if you think you have something to offer and would like to get involved in some capacity, be it Mens or Womens football, please come to the AGM or forward your nomination to PO Box 2002 Bomaderry NSW 2541. It’s not as hard a job as you might think, and is actually a very rewarding experience if everyone pitches in and works as a team. If you have any questions regarding football, the committee, sponsorship, social activities etc etc, please don’t hesitate to contact Tony McCann (Pres) on 0422365408 or Sticks Hickmott on 0403 291 231.

Until next time, Go the Tigers – WHOOA!
