Club News

After a disappointing end to 2021 due to all the COVID restrictions, I am pleased to report that we are already planning and looking forward to next year with plenty of enthusiasm and a positive mindset.

Both Committee’s (Senior & Junior) have held their AGM’s with a number of new faces putting their hand up to go on the committee, which certainly augers well for the future of the Club.

New members generally acquaints to fresh ideas, renewed energy levels and a burst of enthusiasm, so here’s hoping.

I would just ask you that you all get behind the committee, help out when asked and show them the level of support & respect they deserve. This particularly applies to Emily, Matt & Roz who have come forward and taken on key Executive roles; which is something we have been looking to happen for a number of years.

COMMITTEE for 2022

President            Emily Reichler

SVP                    Tony McCann

JVP                      Matt Hickmott

Secretary             Simone Hackett

Treasurer             Roslyn Phillips

General Committee:

Graham Duke, Glenn Keys, Gary Farrow, Matt Farrow, Les Gernyi, Belinda Holt, Shannen Karger, Lily MacDonald, Rhys Arnold, Brent Tyrrell, Morgan Murphy-Knight & Neville Hickmott.

As for the Coaching positions, Geoff Gibbs will once again be in charge of the Men’s teams, whilst I am pleased to announce that Col Lawrence has been appointed to take over as Coach of the Women’s side. Col brings a wealth of experience to the table and will be capably supported by Darren Murray & Matt Farrow.

Looking ahead, don’t forget the XMAS Party & Senior Presentation Day on Sunday  the 5th  (10am – 2pm) at the Nowra Showground.

Pre-season training then kicks off at 6pm on the 7th, 9th, 14th & 16th of December at the Showground with a BBQ on completion of the final run, before we break for XMAS.

As far as the future is concerned, the Bomaderry Football Club has a lot to look forward to, especially given the redevelopment of Artie Smith Oval is about to commence any day now.

Then there’s the release of Stage 2 (House & Land Packages) off Moss Vale Road and with further infrastructure & development earmarked for the Shoalhaven Region, it’s hard not to be a little bit excited.

The prospect of playing AFL & Cricket on a Premier playing field with State of the Art facilities and a growing population is certainly something to relish, however we still need to keep our eye on the ball and make sure we ALL continue to a look out for any new players in the area (Senior’s & Junior’s / Male or Female) and let them know they and their families are most welcome at the Club.

It doesn’t matter how good they are, or where they come from, as long as they want to have a go and enjoy a bit of social interaction, then they are more than welcome at the BFC.
