Coaches Comments – Men’s Division One
A solid win for the DIV 1 boys against an under strength Kiama outfit. Whilst disappointing to only be able to have 14 players on the field, at least we were able to play some football.
Our lads started well going down the hill but with the howling wind blowing straight across the ground scoring was quite difficult.
Satchy was racking up plenty of touches from halfback and Lonergan was proving the difference up front.
The 2nd & 3rd quarters were a close tussle with both sides struggling with the conditions.
The Tigers regrouped at the final break, with the message to be more deliberate with their ball movement and to work harder to create opportunities for each other.
With a much stronger effort producing 6 or 7 scoring opportunities, the Tigers ran out the game well to win by 23 points.
It was great to welcome Dom Pyne to the club in a really strong performance right across the ground & also great to see Tom Hines & Nathan Snelling both back at the club & performing well.
A huge shout out to BT & Jiggy for their outstanding gesture in heading over to help out the DIV 2 boys when they knew Kiama were short. That’s what great club people do.

Coaches Comments – Women’s Premier Division
A number of players were unavailable for the Bomaderry AFL women against Kiama with the team starting with only 19 players including Ellie Priest who was backing up from her 21st birthday party.
Another five players were playing their first senior game in the Tigers colours with special mention to Taylor Matheson-Gee and Bella Halls who were playing their first AFL game ever.
In very windy conditions, the team showed from the opening bounce that they had improved from the first game with pressure being applied across the field.
Teneale Keene was magnificent in her first game for the Tigers, driving the ball deep into the forward line on numerous occasions. The Tigers dominated the second quarter but they struggled to convert their scoring opportunities. Finally, young Maddy Carr was able to kick the first goal for the season causing great celebrations on and off the field.
It was a much improved performance from the Tigers, putting great pressure on their opponents and creating scoring opportunities. The Kiama team was just a little more composed and were able to take their chances more often.
Once again the Tigers defenders, led by Grace Hughes, never stopped trying and are proving to be a strength of the team.
The young Tigers, Kamille Carter and Grace Guthrie are showing rapid improvement and the team is starting to play a competitive brand of football, bring on the Lions.

Division 2
Despite going down, there was a lot to like about the way DIV 2 played. With no bench and in heavy conditions, the boys showed a lot of character.
With Sam & Will Maher playing their first Senior game, Nick McDonald lining up for his 200th and a few others returning after a few years away, the team virtually had to use their warm up to get to know each other.
Throw in our lack of height and the fact that many of our player’s haven’t been able to train, it was always going to be a difficult task, however to their credit they battled it out and whilst Figtree got on top in the third quarter, the Tigers never gave and actually won the last quarter which was amazing.
Izzy dominated from start to finish, William Clarke really impressed in only his 2nd game of AFL racking up plenty of possession on the wing, and the backline lead by Corey Radley, James Biggs & Jack Carter were ever dependable.
Others to stand out include BIG Haydos who may have found his spot in the ruck, Mitch Wurr, Lachy Price & Johnny Ulrick .
Scores: Figtree 6 – 11 : 47 defeated Bomaderry 4 – 4 : 28
Goals: J. Lapatha, W. Clarke, T. Davison & H. Roach 1 goal each.
